  • What is software-defined storage? What does it mean for your storage strategy? Tune into this webinar for a sneak preview of four exciting new storage technologies from VMware that are on the roadmap for increasing storage efficiencies in virtual environments, from VMware's new policy-driven approach to storage for managing end-to-end SLAs per virtual machine.
  • Enterprise Storage moving toward the cloud requires an interoperable interface foundation to avoid vendor lock-in and provide choice. This tutorial will provide an overview of the features of a Enterprise cloud storage standard and explain how interoperability between clouds is achieved.

What should you be requiring from your cloud vendors?
How can you expect standards to roll out in implementations?

    Learning Objectives
How this cloud storage standard can achieve interoperability and what this interoperability means to you.
How you can use the cloud storage standard both internally for private clouds as well as for public clouds.
  • Everyone is talking about the performance benefits of flash, but what about the economic benefits? Businesses are finding that they're buying flash to accelerate applications and, as a result, their IT spends are actually decreasing. Maxwell Riggsbee presents research and customer proof points illustrating the substantial difference flash is making on companies' bottom lines.
  • Server CPU performance is scaling exponentially and will do so for the foreseeable future. During the same period, however, the throughput and bandwidth performance of enterprise-class 15K RPM SAS drives has essentially remained flat, creating a storage performance gap, a key motivator for deploying solid state storage to alleviate I/O bottlenecks.

Join this webinar and learn how to accelerate application performance and optimize your end-to-end storage fabric by deploying a best of breed solution from EMC, Emulex and Brocade.

Allison Nolan, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Flash Products Division, EMC
John Cedillo, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Emulex
Scott Shimomura, Director, Data Center Product Marketing, Brocade
  • Live from HP Discover 2013, Frank Nishimori, Technical Consultant, will be announcing new HP products as they're released and the vision of where storage is headed.
  • Over 75% of the application performance problems exist today because of poor performing storage in either IOPS, bandwidth or latency. Achieving ideal storage performance becomes a greater challenge the more diverse and complex the workload, which can ultimately bring storage performance to its knees. Many flash array vendors claim to solve application performance challenges, yet few can keep their performance promises with today’s demands on storage.

In this webcast, we will discuss real world mixed workload requirements for applications focusing on two common use cases – virtualization and SAP. The lessons learned will be valid for all business critical applications. We will focus on how to test mixed workloads and what results to look for from a high performance SSD storage.
  • The challenges of data growth are driving the requirement for new approaches to data backup that minimise the media requirements and utilise snapshot techniques. This session will cover these technologies as well as disaster recovery management, effective backup management of both structured and unstructured data, and the handling of long term data in a way that meets regulatory compliance. Integration with cloud and virtualisation technologies will also be covered.

  • Definition chaos is often seen at the beginning of industry trends and new hot topics, like Cloud, Convergence, VDI, Big Data, BYOD, etc. Software-defined Storage (SdS), which is related to Software-defined Networking and Software-defined Datacenter, has the potential to become that next big trend. This presentation will look at the context in which Software-defined Storage is evolving and how the explosion of data growth is driving innovation for the next generation of storage virtualisation.

Dr. Markus Pleier was elected to serve on the Board of the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) Europe in 2011. In industry, after serving as Managing Director of a German IT enterprise, he joined EMC in 2000, at a time when storage networking became a new standard. His responsibilities at that time were very strongly connected with the growth of large SAN infrastructures and focused on the professional services area of EMC in Germany. More recently he was appointed one of the technical leads for EMC in EMEA in line with its broader strategy.

Since 2009 he has served EMC as the Chief Presales Office leading the technical presales on a world-wide basis. EMC honoured him as a Distinguished Engineer in 2009 to take credit of his contribution leadership of the EMC technical community in the field and he was named EMEA CTO for EMC in 2010 help customers to transform into private cloud and advise and guide the executive sales management in EMEA in the technology side.

Dr. Markus Pleier has a degree in Computer Science and holds a PhD. in Medicine for Image Handling and Manipulation Algorithms.
  • Odds are you have heard the hype about private and public clouds over the last 18-24 months. You may even have a business directive to move more of your IT infrastructure to cloud and are exploring ideas on how to do that successfully.

Register for this webinar to learn from specific use cases for the cloud that highlight successful deployments applicable to both private and public implementations.
