Mobile Handheld Policies: Permissive or Restrictive?
Mobile devices like smartphones are essential to today’s dynamic enterprise. However, their small size and portability makes them tempting targets for theft. Enterprises recognize that the information on these devices is more valuable than the hardware and software that make them work. As a result, most companies have security policies that dictate the type of device and the methods for connecting to enterprise IT resources. However, these policies create friction between IT and employees who wish to take advantage of newer technologies, such as the iPhone. Service Director Michael Disabato examines these polices and suggests alternatives.
