To Serve or Protect? Addressing Security for Unstructured Data
Many companies face a significant challenge with respect to safeguarding critical data in unstructured formats (i.e., documents, spreadsheets, presentations and file systems). The popularity of collaborative tools such as Microsoft SharePoint illustrates the problem: Aberdeen research indicates that a majority of SharePoint servers are not under central management, leaving security policies at the discretion of individual users or administrators. This session will describe best practices and tools utilized to establish and enforce security policies for unstructured data -- from identification, classification and monitoring using data loss prevention, to increasingly automated enforcement using encryption and enterprise rights management. The session is based on highlights from new benchmark research scheduled to publish on May 31.
