Accelerating Cloud Adoption Using Virtualization Mgmt Standards
Virtualization technology enables IT personnel to respond to business needs more rapidly with lower cost and improved operational efficiencies. At the same time, interoperability and portability of applications are key for organizations that have purchased virtualization platforms from more than one vendor or want to take advantage of cloud service offerings. In this session we will discuss how existing DMTF standards enables workload interoperability across different virtualization technologies and enable unified management of such environments. We will also discuss DMTF's Open Cloud Standards Incubator and explain how DMTF virtualization standards can be utilized to achieve interoperability between private clouds within enterprises and hosted or public cloud providers. Abolfazl Sirjani is the Vice President of Microsoft Technology & Standards Strategy at Citrix Systems, Inc. and a member of the Citrix CTO Office. Mr. Sirjani serves on the DMTF Board and co-chairs the Industry Advisory Board of the NSF Center for Autonomic Computing. Prior to joining Citrix in 2001, he worked at BMC Software for 7 years, architecting management tools for distributed and heterogeneous systems before managing the strategic planning and R&D department. Previously, Mr. Sirjani spent 5 years in the Advanced Technology group in IBM Application System Division architecting database and operating systems. Abolfazl holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science.
