This session will focus on how often-overlooked computer power management features can save your organization as much as $ 300 in electricity per computer over the typical service life of a PC or Mac. After a brief overview of the energy savings opportunity and a layman's explanation of computer "sleep" features, we will discuss how to overcome common technical and non-technical obstacles to realizing computer energy savings. Learn how school districts, local governments, and businesses have reduced their energy costs without compromising the user experience or network security, and learn about helpful resources available to you (many free). This session is for both technical and non-technical audiences: the first half will explain the opportunities, and the second half will be devoted to overcoming technical implementation challenges.
