EPA's New Greenhouse Gas Monitoring Mandate
On September 22, 2009, the United States Environmental Protection Agency announced final rules for the new program that will, for the first time, require thousands of U.S. facilities to monitor and report their emissions of carbon dioxide and other so-called “greenhouse gases.” U.S. EPA's new greenhouse gas monitoring rule takes effect on January 1, 2010, giving companies only three months to determine whether they are covered by the new monitoring and reporting requirements and, if so, to take the steps necessary to begin compiling the required data. Jones Day's Environmental, Health & Safety practice invites you to a live 60-minute webcast on the new program's requirements and implications. The upcoming webcast will address: Who is covered by the new rule? What monitoring is required? What reporting and recordkeeping is required? What are the new rule’s implications for other programs, such as the proposed greenhouse gas “cap and trade” program? What steps should companies be taking to prepare? There will be an opportunity to submit questions during the presentation.
