Infrastructure Testing Strategies
Application changes are a fact of life for a database administrator. They frequently involve infrastructure modifications such as hardware and software upgrades, platform migrations, configuration transformations such as converting a single instance Oracle Database to Real Application Clusters, as well as more mundane changes like schema modifications. Extensive testing is usually performed to assess impact of these changes but despite that many problems are uncovered only after production deployment. In this presentation we will discuss strategies for proper unit and load testing that every database administrator must learn in order to effectively manage the risk of change in their data centers.
