ITIL V3 Certification Update: Can We Talk?
Two years ago the new ITIL V3 individual certification scheme was released by APMG at the official V3 launch in London. I know it was, I was there. It took six months for the exact same scheme to be ratified by the powers that be (the credits were tweaked in between). The various Intermediate courses/exams in the scheme took another one and a half years to be released. Now we have a new exclusionary credit scheme released May 1, that is, at best, confusing and also on May 1st APMG released version 4.2 of the V3 Foundations course curriculum (that’s 4 versions in 2 years…a new record). In terms of V3 certification, I think it’s time to step back, take a breath, take a look at where we’ve been, where we are now, and where we seem to be going. I think it was Henry Ford who said, “if you don’t know where you’re going then any road will take you there.”
