Data Center Movement by Virtualization
With data center movement you’re thinking of packaging, transporting, unpacking and putting things in place. But with moving a thousand servers, is a physical lift and ship a wise way of doing things? You can move digital. And the key to digital movement is virtualization technology. Dutch Railways has moved one of his data centers by virtualization, its servers and its storage environment. Now the servers fit in 20 cabinets instead of the former 75. In the new data center there are 80% less servers. This makes a difference, not only for the data center movement but also in exploitation costs and energy usage. This presentation will tell you how this is achieved. Rien Dijkstra is a technology professional with over 20 years of combined experience delivering results in various IT positions in different governmental and non-governmental organizations.
