Two Storage Trails on the 10Gb Convergence Path
Server virtualization and high bandwidth applications are combining with dropping prices to push 10Gb Ethernet adoptions past the tipping point. The first step has been consolidation - deploying new servers with a dual-port 10GbE network adapter instead of multiple 1GbE adapters. The next step is convergence - using a common 10GbE infrastructure for network and storage traffic. Data centers who are ready to converge have several storage options. This presentation will cover some of the pros and cons for deploying network convergence using iSCSI and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.
