Alan Priestley, Enterprise Marketing Director Data Centre Group, Intel EMEA
With all the industry discussion around cloud computing it’s easy to forget that there are many things we can do to improve the overall efficiency of our existing data centre infrastructure. Understanding your current environment is a key starting point to making improvements and how changes you might implement will actually impact the overall efficiency of your data centre. The areas to evaluate may vary from increasing the utilisation of the data centre and hence getting more workload out of it, to getting more workload/watt of power consumed by the data centre.
This session will look at some of the latest platform technologies from Intel that can help lower data centre power consumption and also increase server utilisation and the cost savings that can be made by deploying the latest generation technology within a data centre. We will also look at some of the work undertaken by Intel’s own IT group in data centre design and layout and the benefits that can be gained by better understanding the facilities side of the data centre.
