Misclassifying the Independent Contractor- A Costly Mistake
Given the hard economic times, businesses have considered many methods by which to lower their costs and overhead. One method used by employers is to attempt to avoid hiring employees by hiring independent contractors to do the same work. What these employers fail to realize, however, is that just by calling an individual an independent contractor does not mean that individual truly meets the criteria for that classification. Instead, many employers are paying expensive penalties for their misclassification of independent contractors. This educational Webinar will provide employers with the information they need to accurately and appropriately determine whether the individual they hire is actually an employee or an independent contractor and to avoid those unnecessary and costly penalities that are assessed for misclassification.
You will learn:
• What is an independent contractor?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of independent contractors?
• How do you determine whether an individual is an employee or an independent contractor?
• How do you protect yourself from the dangers of misclassification?

Employee Engagement is a topic which is now well understood as being a significant factor in organisational results, not least because the way employees feel about their company and how aligned they are to their organisations vision, values and aspirations has a direct relevance to their performance contribution. Despite the range of strategies and approaches applied, however, the level of employee engagement in the UK has not budged beyond about a third of the workforce who consider themselves fully engaged.
In this webinar we will explore what are the macro conditions that need to exist to help boost employee engagement, and what are the micro drivers that enable employees to feel engaged.
This webinar aims to answer two questions:
•Where does employee engagement really live in an organisation?
•What can managers actually do about it?
Sean Kent, Deputy Chief Executive at Freebridge Community Housing
To develop our own leaders we need to develop our own leadership skills. If we don't see ourselves as leaders, as I didn't, then how can we expect others to do so? If we expect others to lead and we aren't prepared to be seen as leaders ourselves, what message does this give?
In this webinar Sean Kent will share his experiences of developing himself as a leader and how he has been able to use that to develop leaders at Freebridge Community Housing. In particular he will reflect on the personal and organisational impact that coaching has had, and the benefits and challenges that diversity can bring to leadership.

The reality is, meetings are still a crucial part of running an effective business. The value of effective meetings saves companies an average $2,600 per employee per year.
In this webinar, you'll learn how to save time + money through the power of Integrated Meetings, we'll show you a process we've taken over 15+ years of research to perfect and refine meetings that you can apply immediately in your company and with your team.

The latest research shows that HR and Talent staff are struggling to deliver the reports to support their business colleagues. One of the reasons behind this is the multiple and disparate HR systems environment. Additionally, expectations are growing that HR will deliver strategic and analytic insights from their data, when in reality most struggle to progress beyond operational reporting.
Join this webinar where our experts will help you understand why this happens. Then see a completely new way of working with data and reporting, to solve these foundational issues and deliver analytics from your existing data.
We will show you a reverse of the traditional ‘dashboarding system’ where the system finds insight through intelligence to uncover what’s important and relevant for you…and best of all, it delivers the findings in English.

In this session, learn about the seismic shift away from permanent staff; what is driving individuals to take up non-permanent positions, what this means to HR, and how best to manage and integrate in to a total workforce strategy.

The Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) is federal law that regulates employer-sponsored health and welfare plans. While the law is complex, the government agencies tasked with enforcing its provisions ensure complete compliance through the use of intensive plan investigations and the administration of significant financial penalties. An ERISA gap assessment can serve as a plan sponsor’s first line of defense against the costly and burdensome consequences of non-compliance, and can provide the added benefit of optimal plan administration.
This presentation will cover the nuts and bolts of ERISA, how and when to conduct a gap assessment, and how to address areas of compliance weakness.

What if there was a way to shorten your sales cycle from 25 days to 20 days? And imagine if instead of closing two or three job orders out of ten you could close five or even six or seven out of ten job orders? Combined, that would be a significant boost to your sales results, without having to exert additional prospecting time and energy. That is what we call working smart!
Proven sales coach to staffing agencies, Dan Fisher of Menemsha Group will highlight the most important and often most overlooked qualification elements of taking a client requirement.
Key learning experiences include:
•How to establish yourself as an equal peer with your client (& why this is so critical)?

While most parents would be delighted if their offspring wanted to become an accountant, lawyer or even an actuary, they may be less encouraging if their son or daughter said they wanted to be a hacker. This is the negative manifestation of working in the cyber security industry that is often portrayed in the media. The reality is very different, with careers in cyber security providing fantastic opportunities that are hugely varied, really challenging and help to do good for society.
Structured career paths provide an opportunity to progress quickly with jobs in large audit and accountancy firms through to small specialist boutique start-ups, as well as the chance for international work and creating new businesses. In addition, the whole industry is very diverse and is looking for people with a very wide range of talents.
The problem is how do we communicate this to people who may be interested in the industry? Just as important for young people, how do we get to the influencers; their parents and their careers advisors to understand what an exciting place the cyber security industry is to work in and what they can expect in terms of the types of company they could work for and their salary expectations.
The problem can be partially solved through education, information and support from businesses working together with a consistent message designed to encourage the very best people into the industry.
In this presentation, Ian Glover from CREST will look at the challenges of attracting the brightest young people into careers that traditionally have an image problem and providing a strong career path once they are in. In particular, he will focus on the importance of properly-run internships and Government funded initiatives to educate and inform.
