May 15 2017

About this summit

The largest cyber attack to date was launched in May 2017. It used ransomware known as WannaCry (also WannaCrypt, WanaCrypt0r 2.0, Wanna Decryptor) to target the vulnerable computers on the Microsoft Windows operating system. The attack started on Friday and in the course of one weekend, infected more than 230,000 computers in over 150 countries, demanding ransom payments in the cryptocurrency Bitcoin in 28 languages. Europol and other agencies described the attack as unprecedented in scale. Join the conversations with some of the world's top leaders in cyber security as they discuss the ransomware attack, what we can learn from it and how to prevent similar attacks in the future.
