The aim of social entrepreneurship and innovation is to try and address the needs of society in more efficient, effective and intelligent ways – through business becoming a force for good: innovating and designing for society as well as for profit to create social and commercial value.
The global challenges we collectively face, by virtue of their scale, will not discriminate between society and business – the failure of businesses to play their collective role will impact on their success and profitability as much as it will on society more generally.
So, The New P&L – Principles & Leadership in Business podcast series brought together a panel of voices from across the social innovation space to discuss whether ‘Social Entrepreneurship is the Future for Innovation’. Sponsored by SocietyInside.com, the Roundtable discusses what can be done to firmly break the perception in business that social innovation doesn’t equate to profitable innovation and whether we currently have a critical ‘moment in time’ for businesses and society to make the transition to an innovation model that is based on both profit and purpose.

Whether you are onboard yet or not, research is clearly indicating that the skills gap is real. In a Korn Ferry survey of 1,500 leaders around the world, 66 percent said there will be a shortage of talent by 2020. Slightly more than half said there would likely still be a shortage by 2030, and it could cost firms nearly $8.5 trillion in lost revenue. Organizations are turning to internal upskilling and mobility strategies to address talent shortages. The problem with building an internal mobility strategy is that there is ample data pointing to people, process, technology, and culture challenges, but few solutions offered to overcome them. This webinar will dig in to both and provide tangible steps for you to build and execute an internal mobility strategy in your organization.

Tony Holmwood, Cultural change strategist, executive and team coach, Outperf4m ConsultingRecorded: Aug 6 202044 mins
Effective leadership and evolving cultures are widely recognised as imperative to creating healthy, thriving organisations. Companies who score highest on creating an equitable, consistently high-trust culture for all employees achieve 3X higher market returns than those on the bottom. Yet these patterns of behaviour remain very much a Holy Grail for many organisations and HR leaders.
As organisations focus more clearly on a compelling, authentic, and altruistic purpose and enable people to be the best they can be, sustainable financial results become far more likely. Recent research also suggests that both leaders and cultures need to continually evolve and develop, to create greater agility and adaptability in the face of a constantly changing world. At the core of this approach is intentionally developing and coaching the capacity of people.
In this presentation Tony Holmwood will present his behavioural development framework from his internationally accredited and awarded book “Best Behaviour”. Tony will introduce his cultural change workshops designed to prepare HR and business leaders to successfully deliver a cost effective inhouse cultural transformation program. The workshops cover the following topics:
- Creating a purposeful, high performance cultural strategy
- Preparing leaders to be culturally transformative
- Coaching for team literacy and agility so employees can flourish
- Establishing a workplace environment for culture change success
(At the conclusion of the workshops HR and business leaders are presented with a co-designed culture change implementation strategy benchmarked to world’s best practise).

In business, we tend to study a concept to death and then discard it when a new buzzword comes along. The truth is that we have been studying employee engagement for a long time because it is difficult and complex. A tight labor market and enlightened leaders have taught us that workers who care about a company can be a competitive differentiator. Given the same available resources, markets, suppliers, etc., a company with engaged employees will win. The problem is that employee engagement is not simple because human behavior is complex. Directing resources to employee engagement without a proper respect for its complexity is like hopping on a horse before you know if it has been broken to ride.
In this webinar you will discover what you need to know about employee engagement before “hopping on the horse”.
We will explore how employee engagement has become a popular but little understood concept. Human Resource teams are already strategic partners in the effort to engage employees and this webinar will address how we need to arm HR teams with the same data and analytics that the business leaders use to make decisions because employee engagement is as complex as all other parts of the business.

A diverse workforce is a business imperative. Without it, companies are made up of employees who come from the same background and have the same skills and, therefore, the same blind spots. A diverse workforce brings together different strengths, a variety of experiences, a huge breadth of knowledge and a wealth of creative problem-solving techniques. However, in order to leverage the benefits of this diverse workforce, businesses must be inclusive. Inclusion ensures that employees feel supported, are treated fairly and are therefore happier, more engaged and more productive.
'Building an Inclusive Organization' by Raafi-Karim Alidina and Stephen Frost, is a practical guide to creating an environment of real inclusion. Today, we chat with Raafi and Stephen about their groundbreaking book. Points of discussion will include:
- How to remove unconscious bias from company processes including recruitment and selection
- How to make the case for diversity and inclusion to all stakeholders
- How to embed inclusion into an organization's culture and overall business strategy
'Building an Inclusive Organization' is packed with case studies from organizations including KPMG, Uber, Salesforce, Harvard University and the UK National Health Service (NHS), and shows how to implement robust processes and policies to foster diversity and inclusion in organizations of any size, and in all sectors, including the creative industry, finance, tech, and academia and foundations.
Guidance and advice is also provided on how to use 'nudges' to change behaviours and overcome bias, how to achieve transparency and accountability, and how to measure, review and evaluate inclusion.

Employee engagement isn't a myth. It's an important business imperative, and it makes a BIG difference in business outcomes.
Employee engagement is a set of very specific needs that we, as humans, need at work if we're going to be fully committed and performing at our best.
That's why I've invited a very special guest to join me for this important presentation. Jeremy Macliver of Guaranteed Traction is going to break down employee engagement so you have practical, actionable steps toward making it a reality in your organization.
In this webinar, he will unlock engagement with 7 questions.
The power of an engaged team will overcome any market, in any industry, at any time.
Jeremy says "This isn't a theory to me. I've led teams through some great economies and overlooked the power of engagement, only to find I worked harder to keep the pace. On the contrary, I’ve been through scary times in business and the thing that I found to be most important during those times IS the engagement of your employees. It’s what gets them to go above and beyond when you’re running lean. It’s what drives them to dig into big challenges and find creative solutions, it’s what motivates them to stay accountable for results that matter, and to work with you to keep building the business, even as there’s chaos all around."
Jeremy has been helping companies increase employee engagement for years. In this webinar, he will share the 7 questions all of your employees need to be able to say "yes" to so that they can be fully engaged.

It is, sadly, well-known that women and minority ethnic individuals often get a raw deal in organizations. Women make up less than 10% of executive directorships in FTSE100 companies and less than 4% of executive directors in the top 150 FTSE companies describe themselves as black or minority ethnic. What’s less well-know is the way that attitudes to differences in psychological type can exacerbate this situation. In this webinar John Hackston, Head of Thought Leadership at The Myers-Briggs Company, will use data from 1.7 million people to show how, by undervaluing particular aspects of personality, organizations contribute to the under-representation of women and minority groups at senior levels. He will discuss how type practitioners can use this knowledge to help address these issues and outline specific actionable steps that organizations can take.

Thriving companies have strong cultures. A strong culture keeps employees engaged, motivated and inspired by offering clear guiding principles of how people work together and contribute to the overall company’s ambitions. Strong cultures also appeal to new candidates and are a strong motivator to consider working for a company, or not.
In these times, company culture plays an important role to keep your company on solid ground. With a ‘new normal’ in working together laying ahead, the way you deal with your company culture will determine at large how your company will perform at all levels.
Solid company cultures are driven by strong values that give identity. They not only make clear to all employees how they can contribute to their company, they also shape the spirit of how people work together across teams and find meaningful belonging.
This talk will inspire you with real life cases and give you hooks to start refreshing your company culture with strong values, that give heart to your identity as a company.
In this webinar you will learn about:
- The importance of culture for your company’s performance
- The four different types of values of a company culture
- How to approach the definition of your values
- How to reinforce your values and your people

As small businesses and startups grow, the HR function becomes increasingly important. Employment laws, people practices, and employee experiences can have a BIG impact, even on a small business.
But if you've never established the HR function and don't have team members with that kind of experience, where do you start? How do you build this function strategically? What do you really need from someone who will oversee this function and, equally important, what do they need as they grow in this new role?
In this presentation, I'll be joined by a very special guest: Lori Kleiman, founder of HR Topics and renowned author and speaker. Lori specializes in supporting small and mid-size HR teams. Our live video conversation will cover a lot of ground, and we'll be taking your live questions, too.
Viewers will learn:
- What's essential, what's nice to have, and what's not really important as you scale up your HR function.
- Where to turn when someone without an HR education is transitioning into an HR role.
- How to support your new or growing HR function so it becomes a strategic asset in your business.
Too often, we are inundated by data. Facts and figures come at us from all sides. We are so overwhelmed with information, we feel paralyzed to act.
Actionable Data is both a design principle and a way of thinking. It has both high-tech and low-tech applications. Simply put, it involves presenting fresh data with a concrete call-to-action. It moves your core audience from a place of helplessness to a state of empowerment.
Actionable data is powerful because the story it generates is ongoing and participatory.
In this webinar, you will learn to:
Visualize - Present dynamic data in the most effective and compelling way to facilitate interaction.
Actualize - Design data interactions for maximum impact and resonance.
Synthesize - Structure your data narrative so that visitors stay engaged.
Putting your organization "on the map." We will use the Greenslate.us Interactive Giving Map as one concrete example of actionable data, walking organizations through the steps and tools to create their own maps. This talk is geared to organizational decision makers and does not presume or require technical knowledge.
