How Three Simple Steps Can Better Protect Against a Data Breach
Alan Radford and Zoltan Bakos Recorded: Oct 1 2019 46 mins
In today’s world, data is more valuable than oil and data breaches are more prevalent than ever.
And a common way that hackers succeed in getting to data is to search for and steal privileged credentials. These accounts have unlimited access to infrastructure and data. And often, with traditional approaches to privileged access management (PAM), privileged accounts are accessed via shared passwords and user activities are not tracked, which makes investigating breaches and preventing future break-ins very difficult.

But that doesn’t have to be the experience for your organisation.

Join our free webcast to learn three simple – yet critical – steps you can take with your PAM strategy to protect your data.

This interactive webcast will help you answer the following questions:

•Do you know who has access to your backend systems?
•Do you know how they are protected?
•Can you prove it when challenged?

  • How desktop-as-a-service makes complex IT architecture simple
How desktop-as-a-service makes complex IT architecture simple
Nutanix Xi Frame Oct 24 2019 5:00 pm UTC 60 mins
As private and public clouds get less expensive, they’re expected to completely replace on-premises computing to make IT cheaper, easier to run, and more secure. But right now, most enterprises still have their feet in both worlds, using hybrid systems that are intended to make the lives of the CIO and the IT department easier. Unfortunately, the complexity often just adds additional cost and reduces business value.

So how do you harness the power of a hybrid system, with any cloud provider? Desktop-as-a-service is a virtualized interface that makes the complexity of your software completely invisible to your users, and allow IT to spin up a desktop instance with one click. It’s a world where IT no less complex but a lot easier to use -- and your users far more productive.

Learn more about how to address the complexity of your tech infrastructure and desktop-as-a-service when you join this VB Live event!

In this webinar, you will discover:

*The concept of desktop-as-a-service including how it works, what it is, and where to get it
*How things have become complex, and how to measure complexity for your enterprise.
*How to understand the business value of dealing with complexity

  • SIEM Modernization: Build a Situationally Aware Organization with Apache Kafka®
SIEM Modernization: Build a Situationally Aware Organization with Apache Kafka®
Jeffrey Needham, Confluent Recorded: Sep 25 2019 35 mins
Of all security breaches, 85% are conducted with compromised credentials, often at the administration level or higher. A lot of IT groups think “security” means authentication, authorization and encryption (AAE), but these are often tick-boxes that rarely stop breaches. The internal threat surfaces of data streams or disk drives in a raidset in a data center are not the threat surface of interest.

Cyber or Threat organizations must conduct internal investigations of IT, subcontractors and supply chains without implicating the innocent. Therefore, they are organizationally air-gapped from IT. Some surveys indicate up to 10% of IT is under investigation at any given time.

Deploying a signal processing platform, such as Confluent Platform, allows organizations to evaluate data as soon as it becomes available enabling them to assess and mitigate risk before it arises. In Cyber or Threat Intelligence, events can be considered signals, and when analysts are hunting for threat actors, these don't appear as a single needle in a haystack, but as a series of needles. In this paradigm, streams of signals aggregate into signatures. This session shows how various sub-systems in Apache Kafka can be used to aggregate, integrate and attribute these signals into signatures of interest.

    Watch now to learn:
    -The current threat landscape
-The difference between Security and Threat Intelligence
-The value of Confluent Platform as an ideal complement to hardware endpoint detection systems and batch-based SIEM warehouses

Apache Kafka® + Machine Learning for Supply Chain
Kai Waehner, Confluent + Graham Ganssle, Expero Recorded: Sep 24 2019 58 mins
Automating multifaceted, complex workflows requires hybrid solutions like streaming analytics of IoT data, batch analytics like machine learning solutions, and real-time visualizations. Leaders in organizations who are responsible for global supply chain planning are responsible for working with and integrating with data from disparate sources around the world. Many of these data sources output information in real-time, which assists planners in operationalizing plans and interacting with manufacturing output. IoT sensors on manufacturing equipment and inventory control systems feed real-time processing pipelines to match actual production figures against planned schedules to calculate yield efficiency.

Using information from both real-time systems and batch optimization, supply chain managers are able to economize operations and automate tedious inventory and manufacturing accounting processes. Sitting on top of all these systems is a supply chain visualization tool, enabling users' visibility over the global supply chain. If you are responsible for key data integration initiatives, join for a detailed walk through of a customer's use of this system built using Confluent and Expero tools.

    WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
•See different use cases in automation industry and Industrial IoT (IIoT) where an event streaming platform adds business value.
•Understand different architecture options to leverage Apache Kafka and Confluent.
•How to leverage different analytics tools and machine learning frameworks in a flexible and scalable way.
•How real-time visualization ties together streaming and batch analytics for business users, interpreters, and analysts.
•Understand how streaming and batch analytics optimize the supply chain planning workflow.
•Conceptualize the intersection between resource utilization and manufacturing assets with long term planning and supply chain optimization.

Jackie Morrison, Senior Manager, Global IT Support at Nintex Recorded: Sep 12 2019 43 mins
Every company deals with Shadow IT. If not caught and corrected it could leave your company exposed. Today, a third of all cyber attacks happen because of under maintained applications. With rising demands to move faster and as technology quickly changes, the problem could continue to get worse if IT teams neglect to take action.

Shadow IT may normally have a negative connotation, but there may also be an underlying opportunity that isn’t being addressed. Instead of being frustrated with departments this could be an opportunity. IT could instead leverage other department efforts to find and vet new solutions. In order to do this, it’s IT’s job to equip them with the right information at the right time and do it in a way that is convenient and easy. Become the IT department that the modern business needs and you should see a decrease in the negative impact of shadow IT.

In this session, we will cover:

•Why does shadow IT keep happening
    •How to leverage shadow IT
•Best practices on how to execute a plan
