There is a lot of discussion about online back-up and recovery for Small and Mid-sized enterprises. An increasing number of vendors have started offering online and cloud based services in this space and as is normally the case there is the accompanying cloud-based hype to deal with. SMEs generally do not have spare resources and many struggle to understand whether this is a viable strategy and what are the associated risks and benefits.
Moving from a premise based solution to a storage-as-a-service model brings with it a set of associated issues such as security, guaranteed service levels, security, shared tenancy, and long-term pricing – which are seen by many in the industry as significant barriers that need to be addressed before these services become mainstream.
The session will help address these questions - and for organizations who may want to trial these services, it will provide a checklist on how they could go about assessing the different offerings, what evaluation criteria to use, and what additional features to watch out for.
