Public Cloud Service Agreements: What to Expect and What to Negotiate, Version 2.0 was written to help you, the customer, understand the meaning of these terms, obtain clarifications, and sometimes get stronger commitments. This white paper complements the Cloud Standards Customer Council’s Practical Guide to Cloud Service Agreements but goes deeper, based on analyzing dozens of actual agreements. Version 2.0 reflects the evolution of the market, the growing concerns about privacy, the development of hybrid clouds, and more. Join several of the paper’s co-authors who will share best practices to evaluate competing offers.Read more >
The complexities of cloud are no more apparent than when IT attempts to integrate cloud into their existing processes. The value of cloud, it’s easy, fast and inexpensive, can be quickly overshadowed by the complexities of integration into standard operations.
In this webinar we will share some tips and tricks on how to get started in cloud with the end in mind, incorporating the cloud while avoiding many of the hidden costs organizations are facing.
Cloud computing is no longer just a trend in IT -- it's becoming an integral part of the overal business strategy for many organizations. But choosing which approach to take can define your strategy for years to come. What are the benefits and shortfalls of an in-house private cloud? Is it worth it when the public cloud provides scalability and value? Or is the combination of both the outcome that will most likely be the future of the cloud?
Join this panel of experts as they discuss if the hybrid cloud is the future of the cloud industry.
The topics of interoperability and portability are significant considerations in relation to the use of cloud services, but there is confusion and misunderstanding of exactly what this entails.
Interoperability and Portability for Cloud Computing: A Guide provides a clear definition of interoperability and portability and how these relate to various aspects of cloud computing and to cloud services.
This webinar will describe interoperability and portability in terms of a set of common cloud computing scenarios. This approach assists in demonstrating that both interoperability and portability have multiple aspects and relate to a number of different components in the architecture of cloud computing, each of which needs to be considered in its own right. The aim is to give both cloud service customers and cloud service providers guidance in the provision and selection of cloud services indicating how interoperability and portability affect the cost, security and risk involved.
Cloud computing is the biggest revolution after the Industrial Revolution after the Eighteenth Century.
The profound changes and Impact Cloud as with the Everything-As-A-Service movement has in your economy is everywhere.
Follow me while we focus on how this ever evolving and growing technology is disrupting the System Administrator and Developer of tomorrow.
The migration of applications to cloud computing must be done in a strategic and methodical manner. Existing enterprise applications must be thoroughly assessed to determine which workloads can benefit most from early migration to the cloud. Key considerations including costs of migration, application redesign, application performance and availability, security and privacy requirements, and regulatory requirements must be taken into account. The aim of this presentation from the Cloud Standards Customer Council is to provide a practical reference to help enterprise IT and business decision makers analyze and consider application migration to cloud computing. The presentation focuses primarily on the migration of applications to public cloud services. It includes a list of steps, along with guidance and strategies, that takes into consideration both business and technical requirements.Read more >

Many businesses are considering hybrid architectures to take advantage of cloud computing's scalability and availability characteristics. In most cases the consideration is for public access to be handled in the cloud with requests to be satisfied by applications running in private managed data centers. Logically, this is a great solution for businesses that cannot or are not ready to move their data completely into the public cloud. Here's a checklist of things to consider when choosing to migrate workloads to a hybrid cloud architecture.Read more >
Cloud and cloud-based technologies represent a fundamentally different approach to the way IT is delivered and consumed. This creates new opportunities that can drive significant positive business impact — not just economically, but also by enabling innovation to gain a business edge. With this in mind, the session will cover:
• The “perfect storm” for cloud of business need, technology evolution, and economic imperative
• How disruptive technologies can create a significant business edge
• Moving enterprises to a cloud model for IT-as-a-service (infrastructure, platform and application)
• The end game: How will cloud technology shape businesses in the future?
The Cloud Standards Customer Council has published a new reference architecture that details how to support e-Commerce solutions using cloud computing. The architecture describes the flows and relationships between business capabilities and architectural components for e-Commerce applications that use cloud computing infrastructure, platforms and/or services. This presentation will outline key considerations for building out advanced e-Commerce capabilities and determining how best to instantiate an e-Commerce system using private, public or hybrid cloud deployment models.Read more >
With datasets continuing to grow larger and cloud computing getting easier to set up and use, one of the biggest challenges facing IT departments responsible for managing Apache Hadoop environments is how to efficiently support and enable data storage. The main choice for moving data to cloud-based Hadoop deployments is to use HDFS, but efficiencies and processes have not gotten to a level that is both sustainable and repeatable while being affordable for IT organizations.
In this 30-minute webinar, speaker Scott Jeschonek will look at the current best practices of using HDFS and Hadoop completely in the cloud. Next, he will highlight the limitations of this approach by contrasting classic on-premises Hadoop with Hadoop in the cloud, suggesting that the two are not the same. Finally, a new approach will be proposed that enables the use of Hadoop compute clusters while data is kept in its on-premises source instead of loading into the cloud. Participants will be able to consider a "Hybrid Hadoop" workflow that provides the economics needed for replication with more flexibility in the data source location, and the efficiency of eliminating the load process before cloud compute jobs.
