Object-based storage systems are fast becoming one of the key building blocks for a cloud storage infrastructure addressing shortcomings of traditional file- and block-based storage for unstructured data. Object storage systems are helping organizations gain much-needed control over managing the tremendous growth of unstructured data.
An object storage system design must accommodate growth, flexible provisioning, support multiple geographies, and cope with failure. How the data on these systems is organized and managed is key to performance and SLAs.
In this Webcast, experts from the SNIA Cloud Storage Initiative will discuss:
• The Evolution of Data Placement
• Design Considerations
• Pros and Cons of Hash Tables and Key-Value Databases
• And more
Register now! This live Webcast will take an unbiased, deep dive
into design considerations for an object storage architecture.

Cloudian CMO, Paul Turner, demystifies hybrid storage and presents its key benefits. He will provide specific examples of when and where hybrid object storage makes sense. You will learn about the key functionality of the object storage architecture, its advantages within the enterprise context and how to get started on your own Amazon compatible private cloud.Read more >
Independent storage analyst Enrico Signoretti will be Cloudian's guest speaker in this special event. In response to today's demanding enterprise users and service provider’s needs, Enrico will talk about the usage of object storage technologies aiming at delivering next generation services, providing true storage scalability, and facilitating data access, recovery and protection.
In this webinar, Enrico will explore:
The challenges enterprises face with traditional storage technologies
The gap between end-user expectations and IT delivery
How object storage technologies can form the foundation for a new approach to petabyte-scale storage
When and where Object Storage makes sense
How Cloudian does Object Storage
Common use cases and deployment techniques
Object storage has been talked about for years, but interest is finally picking up steam as object vendors meet the traditional storage and file system vendors “half way” by simplifying roll out and integration with the file and block storage universe. Join this IT-SENSE Brown Bag webinar for an update on the state of object storage by editor Jon Toigo and an interview with a Adrian Herrera, Vice President at Caringo, maker of SWARM, a leading object storage technology. If you are thinking about object storage technology, you do not want to miss this lunch time webinar.Read more >
It has been said that Objects are for applications and POSIX is for people. The HPC community as well as many other large scale IT organizations have legacy applications and users that know, use, and depend on a near POSIX environment with real folders, ease of renaming and reshaping trees, and other powerful concepts in POSIX.
There are several POSIX name spaces that sit on top of cloud style erasure based objects but few if any really provide an extremely scalable solution. MarFS is designed to address this problem by providing a scalable near-POSIX name space over standard object systems, with target scaling out to trillions of POSIX files, hundreds of Gigabytes/sec of data bandwidth, and millions of POSIX metadata operations/sec.
Read more >
In this presentation, Manzoor will discuss the advantages of object storage for private cloud deployments in delivering performance, scalability, cost-efficiencies, and reliability versus more traditional NAS architectures for greenfield deployments, and how to bridge the gap into object with filesystem gateway software.
