The UK Government recently announced it will set in law the world’s most ambitious climate change target, cutting emissions by 78% by 2035.
With onshore wind being the lowest-cost and fastest way to generate clean electricity, analysis suggests a doubling of current installed capacity is required. Does that mean wind farms will be popping up all over Scotland? Richard Mardon, Head of Onshore Wind Development for Statkraft UK will take us behind the scenes of the development process, with a step by step guide on the challenges faced in finding the best sites to maximise Scotland’s excellent natural wind resource.
Speaker: Richard Mardon, Head of Business and Project Development, Statkraft UK
Richard has more than 30 years’ experience in power and infrastructure projects around the world. Since 2002 he has worked exclusively in onshore wind in the UK, and has had oversight of the development, construction and operation of several completed Scottish wind projects.
Previously a Board Member of RenewableUK, Richard holds an MBA from the London Business School and a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Surrey.
