As the virtualization of IT has increased, the traditional role of the channel partner has changed. Much of the physical infrastructure delivered through distribution has become invisible to end-users, while hyper-convergence has narrowed both hardware and software supply requirements further. Despite this, the role of the channel has never been more important in terms of the delivery of services for support, maintenance and consulting. And with the emergence of new kinds of managed services, hardware appliances, and security requirements, the ability to “connect the dots” will become a key differentiator for those with long-term customer relationships. In this session, Rory Duncan, Research Director for Managed Services & Hosting will outline some of the pitfalls as well as the opportunities for IT distribution partners in the era of Cloud.
