About this talk

For most organizations, data repositories hold the crown jewels. When the Internet first became accessible to businesses, we all "got online," and suddenly the security threats and attack surface increased dramatically. While mostly only a nuisance, "SQL Slammer" in 2003 prompted the conversation within IT teams to start focusing on the protection of data repositories. 20 years later, attacks have become more nefarious and data breaches have escalated. In response, organizations have layered on multiple security tools to address evolving security challenges, while also meeting increased audit and regulatory scrutiny related to access management. While organizations wish to manage access consistently, there are no standards (like SAML), so features such as identity federation often require even more security tools, all of which are unique to the underlying data repository vendor. Today, new companies are mostly cloud-native and older companies are moving to the cloud at a rapid rate. With this shift to the cloud, traditional roles like IT are often being deprioritized in favor of DevOps and SRE teams taking on a broader scope, including traditional DBA duties, along with the thousand other things on their plate. So, a new approach is needed. In this webinar, we’ll address how organizations can avoid top threats facing your data repositories with GitOps and how to safely democratize access to all of your data repositories. Key Takeaways: • Best practices for mitigating 7 of the “Egregious 11” threats identified by the Cloud Security Alliance • Strategies your teams can use to reduce risk to your organizational crown jewels • How to gain consistent security across all data repositories
