From Hazard to Resource: Insight into the rapid growth of APC residue from EfW

The growth in EfW plant capacity is leading to a corresponding increase in the generation of Air Pollution Control residues (APCr), making it one of the fastest growing hazardous waste streams in the EU.

Fact: For every 100,000 tpa of MSW that is converted to energy using thermal treatment processes, approx. 4,000 tpa of hazardous APCr is produced. APCr is a hazardous waste, generated in the exhaust gas cleaning systems of energy from waste plants and is a growing concern of the public and other pressure groups.

This webinar looks at how tightening environmental legislation will force a higher diversion of APCr away from landfill, creating an opportunity for sustainable technologies to supersede the management of this growing hazardous waste stream – technologies that countries such as Japan have been using for decades.
