Does your organisation overlook the human factor?

  • Managing Third Party & Supply Chain Risk Recorded: May 5 2020 47 mins

Extending business activities beyond organisational boundaries to create value for the organisation is not new. However, the quantity and complexity of the relationships that now exist beyond organisational boundaries is increasing, as is regulatory and stakeholder scrutiny – this can create significant third party risks that occur within an organisation’s supply chain and, as the current global pandemic has shown us, dealing with these can create significant challenges. This webinar provides an overview of some of these challenges and our upcoming course “ Supply Chain and Third-Party Relationships”.

  • IRM Webinar - Latest thinking in supply chain risk management Recorded: Dec 11 2019 64 mins
Carolyn Williams, Director of Corporate Relations
Not everyone could make it in person to our Risk Leaders conferences so we are offering our global membership and community a chance to hear from one of 2019’s most popular speakers via a special, free to attend, IRM webinar, looking at the highly topical issue of supply chain risk management.

Professor Robert J Trent, Professor of Supply Chain Management at Lehigh University, Pennsylvania USA will be repeating his keynote presentation ‘How Myopic Financial Strategies Increase Corporate Risk’.

Bob’s presentation will cover his research into supplier/customer relationships and will focus on the unintended consequences that can result when customers take actions that affect adversely the financial standing of their suppliers. Such financially myopic strategies increase corporate risk by encouraging retaliatory action and reducing the likelihood of receiving preferential treatment.

The webinar will also feature supply chain expert Nick Wildgoose BA(Hons) FCA FCIPS. Nick will look at the importance of comprehensive supply chain risk management as part of an organisation’s ERM approach, including the importance of relationships and collaboration and how developments in technology and data availability are offering new solutions.

The webinar will be chaired by Carolyn Williams, IRM Director of Corporate Relations.

There will be opportunity to submit questions for our experts during the webinar.

Date and time: Wednesday 11 December 1600 – 1730 GMT.

This webinar qualifies as IRM CPD and may also meet the CPD requirements of other professional bodies.

  • Risk Reporting Recorded: Jan 7 2019 66 mins
    Dr Simon Ashby
Are you looking at implementing a new risk reporting framework or update one that you have already? In this webinar we will explore some of the options that are available. Learn how to get the most from tools such as risk registers, risk and control indicators and risk matrices. Consider the options available when designing reports and identify the limitations of common risk reporting practices.

Risk reporting is an important output from the risk management process and should be a key input into both strategic and operational decision making. But if the wrong tools are used or reports are poorly designed then reporting can do more harm than good. Are your reporting arrangements adding value to management decision making and promoting intelligent conversations about risk tasking and control or are they little more than a procedural exercise?
  • People Risk Recorded: Dec 11 2018 61 mins
Grant Kennedy & Dr Aarti Anhal
People are the single most important asset in any organisation, yet they can often be the most vulnerable. The opportunities and threats people present to the operations and strategic objectives of their organisations constitute “people risk” – an area of risk often ignored because of the perceived complexities involved in managing it effectively. This webinar will focus on “risk intelligence”, which refers to the way in which an individual’s values, risk competences and behaviours come together to drive their perception of risk, approach to risk-based thinking and decision-making. Th webinar will introduce the diagnostic tools that can be used by organisations to evaluate the “risk intelligence” of staff, whether in the operational 1st Line, the 2nd line’s risk and compliance functions or senior management.
