About this talk

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, mass transit ridership and fare revenues have plummeted by more than 90 percent at many agencies across the nation. While relief funds will address some of the short-term needs of these agencies, the long-term health and sustainability of the public transit system remains fragile. As we begin to emerge from months of shelter in place and think about the future, it is paramount that the public transit system delivers safe riding conditions to the millions that depend on public transportation. But it won’t be easy. This panel of researchers, academics, government officials and technology experts will discuss: — The challenges, landscape, considerations, and potential solutions across the industry. — Strategies to bring back the levels of ridership required for a sustainable system. — Technology solutions required to meet health and safety standards while improving the rider experience. — How to increase operational efficiency and drive new revenue streams.
