Can you integrate ESG factors into traditional credit analysis? And why bother? Some seem to reject this out of hand, while others talk a good story, but struggle to do this in reality. In this session, ESG specialist Gail Counihan and credit analyst Matt Franklin will explain how this can be done in a way that positively embraces the nuances of corporate bonds, taking you through real-life examples of how RLAM has integrated ESG factors into credit analysis, leading to greater long-term insight, better investment decisions and helping to deliver sustainable outperformance.
When yields are low, investors naturally look beyond traditional investment grade bonds, attracted by the higher yields but with healthy scepticism about market valuations and the increased risk of moving along the credit spectrum. In this session, RLAM Head of High Yield Azhar Hussain looks at navigating the world beyond investment grade, and how investors can maintain income while managing these risks effectively. Whatever your view on the direction of yields and credit market valuations, Azhar will highlight areas of the credit world that investors can use to create resilient portfolios that look beyond market-level concerns.
Investment opportunities for sustainable investors have never been greater, while interest in sustainable investment solutions has never been higher. In this presentation we show why the rising demand for sustainable products crosses almost all industries, and why the asset management industry is next. We also highlight a number of key investment opportunities, where capital can be used for both social good and financial gain.
Ashley Hamilton-Claxton, RLAM’s Head of Responsible Investing looks at how interest in environmental, social and governance factors is growing rapidly. This is an area where RLAM has been active for some time. Ashley addresses the importance of corporate governance, what we can learn from corporate scandals and how RLAM engages with companies and adds insight to the investment process.
Peter Rutter, Head of RLAM’s global equity team, will explain how the ESG analysis integrated into the team’s investment process supports and enhances investment decision making. Peter will also highlight some differentiated insights from looking at ESG issues through the team’s corporate Life Cycle framework. Finally, he will outline how clients can pursue global equity solutions to meet specific ESG needs – for example constructing a low carbon global equity portfolio.
UK equities remain the bedrock investment of many client portfolios. In this session, UK equity managers Henry Lowson and Craig Yeaman will outline how attractive companies can still be found despite markets and commentators often being fixated on noise around an apparently lacklustre UK economy. They will discuss how companies that display certain characteristics can be combined into high conviction portfolios with high active share to deliver attractive risk adjusted returns.
