As cloud technologies revolutionize the business model of enterprise computing, the telecommunications industry is leveraging the potential of Network Function Virtualization (NFV) as a telco flavor of network cloud computing. Cloud computing in communications opens the market to CSPs or Enterprises to take advantage of communications services without owning the equipment or the network – similar to cloud computing in enterprises where the actual computing is done in a data center not owned by the customer. The full range of NFV benefits can be better realized by adopting a fresh approach to service development, instantiation and configuration that builds on the strengths of this computing model. With the NFV and cloud computing approach, services are built differently and run differently but should be consumed like services based on a legacy, non-NFV platforms. These new differences require a new model of thinking, consideration of the inherent trade-offs when planning solutions or services and an understanding of the design patterns that achieve the best results in the most efficient way. This webcast will cover –
