  • DoH - Strengthen DNS Infrastructure Security and Improve Subscriber Privacy Jun 30 2020 3:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Terry Young, Director Service Provider Product Mktg and Siddhartha Aggarwal, Lead Product Mktg Engineer at A10 Networks
The security of Domain Name Server (DNS) infrastructure has never been more critical for service providers and enterprise customers. Subscribers and customers are increasingly aware and concerned about privacy of their on-line communications. Now, with the global pandemic, malicious actors are weaponizing Covid19 and attacking vulnerable consumers and workers at home and disrupting critical services, with a wide range of attacks vectors, including DNS. The urgency of protecting subscribers and remote workers has become a top concern.

DNS query – the request between the DNS client and the local DNS server that provides the internet address - is transmitted in clear text, that is, unencrypted and is especially vulnerable to attack and invasion of user privacy.

DNS over HTTPS (DoH), proposed by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), provides one additional protection of DNS infrastructure. DoH would encrypt the DNS query, providing the subscriber the same encryption protection of HTTPS. Yet, despite growing subscriber concerns and industry support, DoH remains controversial. Many ISPs are apprehensive about its use and how it may impact their business models.

In this webinar, A10 Networks will review the role of DNS, common attack types and the adoption of DoH by the industry. The pros and cons of DoH for ISPs and subscribers will be explored and A10’s DoH solution described and a recent case study. The presentation will conclude with a short demo on DoH on the A10 CFW.

  • The Intelligent Edge -Scaling resilient virtualized services with Edge Analytics Recorded: May 19 2020 50 mins
Brian Lappin - BT, Matt Olson - Splunk, and Bill McDonald - Intel
The applications for uCPE are growing as the edge grows in importance for customers looking to take advantage of Digital Initiatives, but success with these remote deployments is dependent on cost-effective management of these systems. Brian makes the case as to why the Edge is important to BT’s enterprise customers, how customers want to use these services at the edge and why data telemetry and analytics are critical to the successful scale-out of uCPE to these customers.

Splunk offers a powerful analytics platform that enables communications service providers (CommSPs) and the enterprises that they serve to gain end-to-end visibility of their uCPE infrastructure, WAN connections, security and other applications, with automatic response when network events violate network policies.

Although SDN and NFV have been around for a number of years, there have been fits and starts due to a variety of different reasons. What’s different this time around is there’s finally an integrated solution with partners aligned, working with service providers to help solve problems. However, as IoT devices continue to grow by some estimates, to 20B+ at the edge, the need to make data-driven decisions at the edge and the ability to deploy uCPE at scale are becoming increasingly vital.

Matt highlights Splunk’s Data to Everything platform, and how his team helps turn real-time data into doing. Splunk helps service providers bring real-time data to every question, decision, and action that affects their organization so they can turn that data into successful outcomes.

Learn more about the types of analytics that customers are requiring, how is Splunk making it easy for the customers to consume that data and scale their deployments.

  • Which Form Factor for an SD-WAN Appliance? Recorded: May 12 2020 52 mins
Marc Bouteyre, Head of Virtualization at Ekinops
Over-the-top SD-WAN providers are all leveraging x86 appliances as default appliances and very few are using x86 platforms with virtualization. This indeed makes a lot of sense when new devices are needed on the Edge of the network however this is more challenging from a TCO perspective and may limit SD-WAN adoption. While Intel offers a large range of platforms and solutions to optimize their usage, which make those relevant at the Edge, they must be complemented for the entry level with cost-effective solutions in order to extend the overall SD-WAN market. The end game with an extended SD-WAN market being to enable additional network services.

  • Changing the Mobile Networks Economics with Parallel Wireless OpenRAN Recorded: Apr 21 2020 44 mins
Zahid Ghadialy, Sr. Director, Strategic Marketing; Amit Miron, Sr. Director, Product Management; Jason Tiner, Sales Engineer
The entire telecom industry is going through a dramatic change that can be only compared to the change that Data Centers went through in the 2000s; all driven by Moore’s law. This is driving the need to move from costly, proprietary solutions to COTS and Open-based ones, and create a broader vendor supply chain. Vodafone recently noted that “the global supply of telecom network equipment has become concentrated in a small handful of companies over the past few years. More choice of suppliers will safeguard the delivery of services to all mobile customers, increase flexibility and innovation and, crucially, can help address some of the cost challenges that are holding back the delivery of internet services globally. In this webinar, Parallel Wireless speakers will discuss how the cloud-native and software-based Parallel Wireless OpenRAN approach across ALL G significantly improves network economics by converging ‘ALL G’, including 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, on to one unified software platform that is easy to manage. We will showcase how this eliminates the need for operators to maintain siloed legacy networks dedicated to just one G service resulting in up to 60% OPEX cost reduction to maintain networks. This approach allows MNOs to modernize legacy networks for cost reduction and is essential to reduce the complexity and integration expense of rolling out multi-vendor 5G systems. We will go in more detailed in different types of Intel-based OpenRAN (integrated and split) and supported coverage and capacity use cases. We will close the session off with some real-life deployments of OpenRAN by Parallel Wireless across the globe from Vodafone, Telefonica, MTN, Etisalat, Zain and CCA members in the US.

  • DPI: The Key Technology for Application Performance Monitoring Solutions Recorded: Dec 17 2019 44 mins
John Hallett, Sales Manager EMEA at ipoque GmbH, a Rohde & Schwarz company
When it comes to managing application performance, most enterprises today use application performance monitoring (APM) tools. APM is a unified monitoring technique that uses analytics to provide visibility into the end-to-end performance of an enterprise application, measuring it against pre-determined performance, security and QoE targets.

By using deep packet inspection (DPI) technology, APM tools are able to go beyond the usual simple network management protocol (SNMP) and flow-based traffic monitoring to detect performance issues. DPI is a technique for monitoring network and application traffic at packet level. Using response time metrics for packets sent between clients and servers, enterprise administrators can regulate traffic flows and differentiate between network and application issues.
This is necessary for a converged, end-to-end overview of enterprise application performance, which requires real-time analytics on enterprise network links and connectivity such as LAN and WAN, as well as on user devices and external connectivity.
Discover in this webinar why DPI is crucial for achieving an up-to-date overview of system traffic, determining root causes of performance issues, detecting inappropriate traffic and security risks, and reacting to network slowdowns (which often remain undetected) before they impact end users.

By the end of this session, attendees will have learned:
•How application delivery creates challenges for enterprises related to managing their applications’ performance and security
•How APM solutions help enterprises to monitor and diagnose application delivery issues
•Why packet-level analytics provided by DPI have become a crucial technology for APM solutions
•What the benefits of DPI are for APM use cases
•What sourcing options are available for DPI solutions
•How to evaluate and answer the key aspects when deciding whether to build or buy DPI technology
