In late 2023, the Food & Drug Administration issued new considerations for cybersecurity in medical devices. These recommendations cover everything from authentication, to cryptography, to firmware and software updates. As a result they have launched the smartfactory@stürmsfs project, where the company has defined priority use-cases and is building up digitalization know-how in an “open Lab” together with technology partners and implementation partners since 2022.

A private 5G network based upon Nokia DAC technology and implemented by Datwyler IT Infra plays an important role at the smartfactory@stürmsfs. It has become an indispensable connectivity backbone for machine integration and data mining, without limitations – flexible performant and reliable.
