Catalyst Preview - Virtualization:The Key to the Dynamic Data Ctr

Presented by

Richard Jones, VP & Service Director

About this talk

Markets change on a dime. Businesses either adapt or suffer loss, but a business can only move as fast as IT allows. IT organizations tied to rigid physical infrastructure cannot help the business adapt to changing market forces. That’s why server virtualization is a key technology for the dynamic data center. Not only does server virtualization produce significant cost savings through server consolidation, but it can also increase high availability and IT agility through workload mobility. But server virtualization isn’t the only virtualization technology making inroads in IT today. Storage, network and client virtualization have become important technologies necessary to enable a more agile IT environment. However, the agility afforded by virtualization presents new challenges to IT organizations. Virtualization technologies require new approaches to security, backup, desktop provisioning, and workload lifecycle management. The dynamic data center requires the integration of all these technologies to free resources from their physical constraints, realize significant cost savings, and gain a competitive advantage.
