SecurityToday reports that we’ll see 31 billion IoT devices installed during 2020 and that number will rise to 75 billion worldwide by 2025
Data from Forrester indicates a significant uptick in enterprises either implementing or expanding their IoT deployments. It’s estimated that 63 percent of enterprises either have IoT projects in their current work streams or are at least planning for those future work streams now.
The sheer number of devices are staggering. The devices are really just an indicator of all of the IT projects that sit behind them. The devices also serve as a guidepost to treasure troves of data being captured.
The fact is that IoT is not just one technology but a series of technologies. Actionable data from this series of technologies is the real game changer. It’s this actionable data which will help to drive organizational digital transformation.
