Larger datasets provide the foundation for effective analytics. However, as these datasets continue to grow, it becomes increasingly expensive and complex for you to manage.

Let us help you to ensure that you’re deriving the very best insights and are making the most intelligent decisions that your organization needs to be successful.
  • Storage Wars: Object vs. File vs. Block Recorded: Jul 30 2020 77 mins
Tom Christensen, CTO & Customer Advocacy - Northern EMEA, Hitachi Vantara
Research firm IDC projects that by the end of 2020, the world will generate 44 zettabytes (44 trillion gigabytes) of data per year. Data storage, therefore, is no longer simple, and in the age of cloud maturity and Digital Transformation, storage infrastructure strategies are shifting. With object stores having a very different set of characteristics than file and block storage, it can be confusing to know which is the right strategy that will keep up with an expanding digital universe.

Even small businesses struggle to manage the ever-growing pile of files stored on various networks and systems, so the challenges for enterprise companies can be hard to wrap your head around.

Join this panel of object, file and block storage experts as they discuss:

    - The best way to manage unstructured data
    - Are there deceptive costs in a file storage strategy?
    - Use cases for object storage

    Speakers:
Alex McDonald - SNIA Networking Storage Forum and Office of the CTO, NetApp (Moderator)
Tom Christensen, CTO & Customer Advocacy - Northern EMEA, Hitachi Vantara
Anne Blanchard, Sr. Director of Product Marketing, Nasuni
Sanjay Jagad, Senior Director of Products and Solutions, Cloudian
Bill Martin, SNIA Technical Council Co-Chair and Samsung

  • Redefining Hadoop Data Strategy to Achieve More Insight with Less Cost (English) Recorded: May 21 2020 80 mins
Seng Joo Lim, Digital Insights Solution Engineer; Derrence Chan, Technical Expert for Data Intelligence
With the current pandemic situation, organizations are now being force to relook and prioritize their IT investment.

In this webinar, we will explore the challenges our customers are facing with storing data long term in Hadoop, and discuss what Hitachi Content Platform (HCP) and Lumada Data Optimizer able to help our customers solve the exabyte data challenge in reducing cost of Hadoop Data Repository.

For years Hadoop has been the go-to data processing platform because it is fast and scalable. While Hadoop has solved the data storage and processing problem for many years, it achieves this by scaling storage and compute capacity in parallel. As a result, Hadoop environments have continued to expand compute capacity well beyond their needs as more and more of the storage is consumed by older, inactive data. Although HDFS is effective at storing small-to-mid size repositories of data, HDFS becomes vastly more costly and inefficient as storage needs expand, since this requires increasing both storage and compute. HDFS also relies on data replication (storing multiple copies of each object) for protection. As these data sets grow into the petabytes the growing cost of old data and idle compute in your Hadoop ecosystem will become unsustainable.

Key take away from this webinar:
    - Lower Hadoop Cost with Lumada Data Optimizer for Hadoop
    - Seamless Access to Hadoop Data with No Disruptions
    - Scale Compute and Storage Independently
    - Optimize Hadoop Resource Consumption and Utilization
    - Avoid Data Protection Headaches
    - A Secure, Flexible and Cost – Effective Storage Solution

  • Leveraging “Smart Spaces” Technology: Helping America Re-open Recorded: May 19 2020 34 mins
Ron Quartararo Director Smart Spaces/Video Insights, Hitachi, SE Region Anthony Caputo Smart Spaces Solutions Architect
As we prepare to re-open America, businesses need to look at new technology solutions to help control the spread of the virus. Equally important is the need to provide a comfort level to employees, customers and the public as to the safety of re-entering businesses, schools, and public spaces. “Smart Spaces” and video analytics, has now been adapted from its core applications of insuring security and operational efficiency to facilitating health safety and specifically addressing the corona 19 crisis.

This session will demonstrate how 3 specific solutions can be deployed by the business community to a) detect body temp/fever for workers or customers; b) monitor hand washing compliance and c) insure adherence to social distancing requirements. Those technologies involve thermal imaging; 3D LIDAR; and video analytics, each of which will be explained and questions answered.
