Faster Embedded Java Startup with Checkpoint/Restore

Presented by

Simon Ritter, Deputy CTO, Azul Systems

About this talk

Java is a very powerful platform, with many features that make it ideally suited to embedded application development and deployment. However, using bytecodes and a managed runtime in the form of the JVM can lead to issues with how quickly an application can start. This is especially relevant to IoT devices that need to start working as soon as they are powered up. To help solve this problem, Azul has developed additional functionality for the Zulu Embedded Java product called Checkpoint/Restore. In this webinar, we'll explain the issues behind the performance of starting an embedded Java application and then explore how Checkpoint/Restore addresses them. We'll include details of how to use Checkpoint/Restore in a sample application.
