But it is also important that central banks see inflation returning sustainably to their respective 2% targets. As the real-world impacts of climate change become more apparent – such as increased flooding, extreme heat, and more chaotic weather - attention is being directed to the risk this poses to companies, investors, and the economy. To do this we will delve into the basics of climate science and how improved scientific understanding will help us better form judgments on the financial risks, we will also discuss the limitations of current climate/economic modelling and draw on examples from the insurance sector to understand where risks (and opportunities) may lie.
