About this talk

The ransomware threat landscape continues to evolve. Over the past six months, the BlackBerry Research and Intelligence team has noted several troubling new trends, including a substantial increase of ransomware written in languages such as Java and Go. One recently discovered example is Tycoon, which the team profiled in a BlackBerry Threat Spotlight. Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) groups are becoming more selective in vetting their affiliates. Scattershot approaches are giving way to highly targeted campaigns that are often deployed via compromised Managed Security Service Providers (MSSP). Threat groups are adding blackmail to their extortion toolboxes, exfiltrating and threatening to expose victim’s data and inform regulatory authorities if their ransom demands are not met. Join BlackBerry security experts for an in-depth analysis of today's emerging ransomware landscape and a discussion of best practice strategies for reducing ransomware risks.
