Optimizing heat transfer and corrosion control using stainless steels and CRAs

Presented by

Dr. Graham Sussex, Principal Consultant at Sussex Materials Solutions P/L

About this talk

In collaboration with the Nickel Institute, Dr. Graham Sussex, foremost expert in corrosion and failure investigations, will explore how stainless and nickel alloys can deliver good heat transfer efficiency. Most commonly, thermal efficiency and its related cost are the basis of heat transfer designs of commercial and industrial plant and equipment. Simple thermal conductivity is a factor in heat exchangers but it is not significant compared to scaling or fouling caused by corrosion or flow design issues. Economisers and condensing boilers are particular designs where chasing efficiency can lead to significant corrosion unless temperatures and fluid flows are carefully analysed.
