#SciValFest2020 -Analyzing SDGs at Tecnológico de Monterrey and LSE

Presented by

Nathalie Galeano, Tecnológico de Monterrey & Nathalie Cornée, LSE

About this talk

Part 1: Among the diverse analysis that Scival can support during the development of a research strategy in any university, there are two of them that Tecnologico de Monterrey uses: 1) the analysis of its SDG outputs, and the comparison with peers and 2) the identification of potential areas of collaboration among two universities at the level of research areas and topics. These analysis supports the identification of opportunities areas in the university which can leads into the definition of strategic projects aimed to the development of research capacities and the implementation of collaboration schemes with peers. Use cases of these analysis will be presented during this session. Part 2: The project outlines LSE’s wide contribution towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals to demonstrate the value of social sciences to society. Whilst we have a clear contribution to each goal, the analysis will focus on the top five Goals LSE’s research influence and societal influence are the most significant. To gather this data, we used citation analysis tools to estimate the amount of publications we’ve produced towards specific SDGs. Then we identify which topics are prominent, who were our major partners as well as the proportion and characteristics of LSE most-cited papers. The analysis also includes how many LSE publications have been made freely available to society (open access) and how policy makers have engaged with our findings to support the United Nations goals.
