Dell EMC’s Data Domain deduplication engine is data agnostic. This means the engine will attempt to find duplicate segments in the backup stream and deduplicate it by referencing the existing segment already on the Data Domain. Normally, if the data has not changed, the backup stream should be theoretically identical.
