NLT found only 1 in 3 children 8-18 enjoy reading in their free time in 2024 – the lowest level by far since 2005.
Concerned about the impact this would have on future generations, as well as reading levels in her school, Claire Davies took charge of implementing DreamBox Reading Plus to transform reading.
Working at grassroots level with around 20 years’ experience working with young people across secondary, SEMH and primary settings, Claire has championed the adaptive online reading development programme, helping students make fantastic progress.
Joined by Reading Development Consultant, Nick Mills, Claire will cover:
• The current challenges of reading in schools.
• Her school's specific challenges - and how Reading Plus supported them.
• How Reading Plus supports schools to improve reading proficiency and reading for pleasure – and how your school can test the impact with a free four-week pilot.
"Our first practice SATs paper showed only 38% of children were at EXS. We've seen leaps and bounds in how Reading Plus is affecting how they answer. When we did our last practice paper in April, we had 74% of children at EXS or exceeding." – Claire.
