Decentralised Finance (DeFi) stands at the intersection of crypto, digital assets, and blockchain-powered financial services with the promise to deliver a more productive financial ‘infrastructure’ for Web3 applications and our developing digital economy. In that context, questions around governance and the degree of centralisation/decentralisation of such new systems are at the top of research, policy and regulatory agendas. In this inaugural UK FinTech Academic Network (UKFAN) session, you will hear academics and regulators discuss different notions of decentralisation and the role DeFi plays in the development of Web3 and financial services applications within.
