Since the pandemic, markets have gone through an unpredictable cycle, with 2023 being the perfect example. Central banks were on one of their most aggressive rate hiking cycles in history and almost every economist set the stage for 2023 to be a year we would all rather forget. However, for those made of sterner stuff, equity markets delivered strong returns for investors. As we moved through the year and into 2024, it became apparent that markets may be returning to favour the hunting ground of the stock picker. With rates likely to remain higher for longer we are unlikely to see a situation where rising tides lift all boats, instead investors will have to choose companies with the ability to deliver strong returns based on the quality of the company. Alexandra and James will address some the most pressing questions investors have today and will discuss what they consider to be some of the star quality companies available, ranging from household names to companies flying under- the- radar as leaders in their field.
