About this talk

The Energy Industry is successfully facing the challenges of the Energy Transition with the help of Digital Transformation technologies and tools. The Energy Transition involves improving the energy efficiency of our facilities and reducing the amount of Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Waste. Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage (CCUS) are progressing and being scaled with good Energy Industry projects in the UK and Norway. Another challenge from the Energy Transition is to increase the use of more Renewable Energies like Solar PV, Wind, Tidal Stream, and Geothermal. In addition to these technical challenges, the Energy Industry has faced economic challenges associated with disrupted energy markets over recent years including during COVID. Companies have needed to reduce costs whilst maintaining production efficiency and safety. Fortunately a range of disruptive technologies and tools have been progressed in parallel which have allowed the industry to meet these challenges. Improved IoT devices, Wireless Communications, Edge Processing, Cloud Data Platforms, Digital Twins, Advanced Analytics (including Machine Learning and AI), Robotics, and Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality tools have enabled the Energy Industry to change and meet the challenges.
