Just as no two humans are exactly alike, no two enterprises are exactly alike. When it comes to Digital Transformation, common patterns have emerged that characterize successful digital initiatives across industries. Patterns provide an implicit and replicable view of system development. When experts solve a new problem in a given context, they do not develop an entirely and distinct new solution. Instead, they recall a solution and reuse the essential parts of this solution to solve the new problem. The Industry IoT Consortium (IIC) aims to accelerate and optimize technology innovation by reusing existing patterns. The inherent knowledge of experts, provided in a compact form, may power new solutions across industries. IIC has introduced a Patterns Collection Initiative for knowledge exchange, patterns discussions, and an ecosystem of support that helps find new approaches to driving innovation.
