Organizational Evolution in a Cloud-First World - Part 1

Presented by

Josh Stephens, CTO - Elsewhere Partners; John Grange, CTO - OpsCompass

About this talk

2020 has ushered in a new era of Ops management for tech teams. Traditional engineering and administration teams focused on owned and on-premise infrastructure have evolved into a next generation of Ops management styles focused on cloud resource management, security, and compliance. Traditional enterprise Ops centers crowded with IT managers with their showcase collections of large, high-definition screens depicting dashboards for IT system health and performance have given way to distributed teams, largely working from home, learning to collaborate via Slack and Zoom, keeping the technologies that the world relies upon running at wire speed. Join industry veterans Josh Stephens (SolarWinds, INS, US Air Force) and John Grange (OpsCompass, Layeredi, Perigon Networks) for a two part webinar series where we will explore the evolution of these team structures, the skills needed to be successful within them, and the technologies that fuel these evolutions. In part one, we’ll discuss the evolution of the team structures, job titles, and skills required for success within these next generation ops teams. We’ll review and discuss: • The evolution of network engineering to NetOps • The transition from traditional software engineering and security to DevOps and SecOps • The advent of CloudOps and how it’s changing the game • The next generation of ITOps and AIOps structures • The skill sets and job titles that are most highly in demand during this rapid evolution
