  • Achieving success with open source clinical decision support technology Oct 29 2019 3:00 pm UTC 55 mins
    Vipul Kashyap and Atif Chaughtai
Clinical decision support (CDS) is a top priority for many healthcare organizations, but it can be challenging to implement a solution that pulls together the massive amount of patient data available for actionable insights or at the point of care. Development and access to suggestions and reports must also be configurable by the clinician or caregiver with little or no intervention from the organization's IT department.

The clinical decision support engine, developed by Vipul Kashyap, can help identify clinical conditions along with their attributes (e.g., stage), and estimate risk factors (e.g., of readmission). The system, built on an open source architecture from Red Hat, uses decision model and notation (DMN), which enables clinical informaticists and business analysts to specify requirements and create executable CDS models.

Join our webinar where we’ll discuss:

•What open source CDS is and why it’s important.
    •Challenges with other CDS tools.
•Best practices for developing and customizing recommendations for CDS.
    •Achieving successful adoption rates.

    Featuring:

Vipul Kashyap, director, informatics and information architecture, Red Hat
Atif Chaughtai, chief technologist, Red Hat

  • Modern CI/CD Pipeline for Traditional Provisioning Recorded: Oct 9 2019 60 mins
Lynn Dixon, Dustin Scott, Jarryd Novotni
Organizations often face challenges related to provisioning and managing virtual resources. Fulfilling new service requests requires long, manual processes that consume excessive time and resources. In addition, ongoing management requires IT personnel to commit the majority of their time on management tasks that offer little differentiating value to the business.

Without consistent processes and standards in place, bottlenecks result from disparate approvals and human error. A provisioning, management, and retirement strategy, in combination with workflow automation and continuous integration and continuous delivery, is critical to ensure accuracy of the service request process, improve agility, and accelerate time to market.

    Featuring:
Lynn Dixon, senior cloud consultant, Management Practice, Red Hat
Dustin Scott, managing architect, Red Hat Consulting Cloud Management Practice
Jarryd Novotni, senior cloud consultant, Management Practice, Red Hat

  • Business rules re-imagined: New approaches to business automation Recorded: Sep 3 2019 35 mins
Phil Simpson, Senior Principal Product Marketing Manager, Red Hat
Business rules engines have been around for several decades and do important work at many organizations. The idea that business people could encode business policies in the form of rules that could then be used to automate business decisions was revolutionary at the time and has led to much greater efficiency and consistency in business operations. But as we look forward to a more digital future, new technologies such as AI/ML, RPA, and the Cloud are once again changing the way we approach business automation, and redefining what's possible to automate. In this session Red Hat's Phil Simpson will review some of these critical changes, and how they will impact the roles of developers and business people as we build the next generation of applications.

The session was previously recorded during the Application Architecture Summit: Integration Developer News (July 2019)

  • Building better Kubernetes applications with Operators & OpenShift Recorded: Aug 27 2019 44 mins
Josh Wood, Developer Advocate, Red Hat
Kubernetes scales and manages stateless applications easily. Stateful applications require more work. Databases, caching systems, and file stores are harder to dynamically manage with data intact, and they often come with their own notion of clustering. Operators are Kubernetes agents that automatically deploy, scale, manage, back up, and even upgrade complex, stateful applications.

This technical webinar will provide an update on the Operator pattern from Red Hat—adopted by many community projects like Rook, Prometheus, and others—and supported by a Framework and software development kit (SDK) that make it easier to automate your applications.
