Panel Discussion: Impact of Cloud and Digital on Future of the IT Organisation

The organisational impact of “cloud” adoption (in all its guises), as well as other modern enterprise technologies, is a topic of relevance to IT and business leaders in all industry sectors.
The much vaunted shift to "everything-as-a-service" will have major implications not only on the tasks and services that IT departments traditionally perform, but the skills required in the organisation and the nature of the relationship that “IT” has with the “business”. Shadow IT is now a fact of life in most organisations. Business customers expect IT to take more of a leadership role in defining and enabling business strategy.
Or will it? Is it? Do they?
Join our panel of CxOs sharing real world experience as they debate the key factors impacting the performance of IT and how it evolves to meet the challenges

  • Legacy Modernisation: Overcoming the Transformation Barriers Jun 27 2018 12:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Simon Ratcliffe, Principal Consultant, Advisory, Ensono Kevin Stoodley, CTO IBM Z Series, IBM Alex Hilton, CEO, CIF (Introduc
A recent survey conducted by Ensono, in partnership with the Cloud Industry Forum, showed that 89% of respondents believed that legacy technology was a barrier to effective digital transformation. Given that many organisations operate a complex technology landscape often with elements in different locations, and with core components that are regarded as ‘legacy but critical’, there needs to be a clear and simple approach to overcoming these obstacles.

Breaking down the barriers requires effective change in people, process and technology to attain a viable level velocity that will enable transformation without being held back by perceptions of legacy issues.

Examining these issues, this webinar will provide insight and thought provoking approaches for organisations seeking to transform their operations against this backdrop.

This webinar discusses why there is now widespread adoption of a multi-cloud strategy, and how it helps to achieve several business objectives; namely: optimized ROI, superior security, lower latency and higher throughput, greater autonomy, greater availability and resource optimization. Antonio will also dig into the most current emerging trends of the multi-cloud, including immutable infrastructure and the concurrent tools transformation accompanying this paradigm shift.

  • Capitalising Your Cloud; financing options for cloud projects Recorded: May 18 2017 33 mins
Jez Back, Senior Manager Deloitte Consulting
Every IT organisation is under pressure to deliver services as efficiently as possible, utilising infrastructure and services that may have a significant impact on the financial position and results of the organisation

Historically, cloud technology has made reference to the potential benefits of transferring costs from the balance sheet (capex) to the income statement (opex). However, an unintended consequence has been that few, if any, cloud related costs could be capitalised. This may not be the desired outcome for all organisations and the capitalisation of certain types of cloud technology maybe preferred, or even required by accounting standards. This session explores this area and what key considerations can be given to the capitalisation of cloud.
