This episode of “Shift + ALT + Disrupt,” we explore how federal, state, and local governments, and other Public Sector organizations, can work towards eliminating information silos.

On March 20, 2025, President Donald Trump issued Executive Order 14243, know as "Stopping Waste, Fraud, and Abuse by Eliminating Information Silos." This executive order requires federal agencies to remove barriers to sharing internal data, and make it possible to share unclassified records and systems among federal and state entities. The potential to open up the data the government collects so it can be used more widely has enormous potential to improve service delivery and lead to faster digital transformation across the Public Sector landscape. In fact, the primary goals are to enhance oversight, reduce fraud and wasteful spending, and improve government operations.

During my one-on-one conversation with Scott, we are going to dive into data silos, poly clouds, and AI (Oh, My!) and review some ways government agencies can create the network infrastructure and security posture to support greater data sharing.

Then we will shift to our Digital Transformation Panel to talk more about data improper payments, and how difficult the road will be to open up data sharing intra and inter agency.

Prior to joining Mastercard, Steve was a Senior Manager at the UK’s National Crime Agency where, as Head of Cyber Threat Intelligence, he led the UK’s strategic response to cyber crime. During his 17-year career within the UK Government, Steve also served as the UK’s Cyber Attaché to the USA during 2016-2019, embedded with the FBI Cyber Division at National Cyber & Forensics Training Alliance (NCFTA). Steve was responsible for diplomatic and political relationships and negotiations relating to the investigation of cyber criminality affecting the UK and USA.
