Stop clicking—and automate using Ansible

Presented by

Kyle Rafaels, Consultant, Red Hat; Ethan Smith, Senior Consultant, Red Hat

About this talk

How many hours are being wasted in the AWS console, provisioning your VMs again and again? Did that last one get done right? Does Kyle provision the same way as Ethan? With the increased demand to deploy applications quickly and respond to customer demands, there is an overwhelming need to manage and deploy infrastructure in a quick and consistent fashion. In this talk, we’ll discuss how engineers can use Ansible to build infrastructure and automate general maintenance and Day 2 operations traditionally performed manually. Reflecting on our experiences in deploying a customer environment of ~500 cloud instances in a fully automated fashion, we’ll discuss our solutions for deploying and testing the latest commits of middleware applications, patching systems, managing DNS and authentication—all without visiting the AWS console.
