  • NTT 2019 Digital Means Business Benchmarking Report Aug 20 2019 2:00 pm UTC 60 mins
Wayne Speechly - Principal Director – Digital Advisory- NTT
Organizations worldwide are achieving some success with digital transformation, with 72.9% saying their journey to enterprise-wide transformation is ‘in progress’ or better.
But there’s still a strong belief that this evolution requires a detailed digital strategy and radical, far-reaching changes. Of organizations in the early stages of transformation, 71.1% still believe a complete restructuring of the business and operating model is the primary definition of digital transformation. There’s also not enough recognition for the need to change people – how they think and act.
Organizations that thrive in these rapidly changing times can balance capitalizing on external opportunities with mobilizing internal capabilities. Currently, 32.3% of organizations’ forecasted outcomes from digital transformation are externally focused, while 67.7% are internal.
To shape a connected future in which value is constantly derived from transformation across the business, organizations should focus less on perfecting a grand digital plan, and more on taking incremental, tactical, and iterative steps in their transformation journey. Yet, 20.9% are not satisfied that their digital strategy is progressing in an agile manner, and with enough tolerance for correction. The agile approach should be supported by decisive, yet vulnerable leadership who are themselves willing to change. This isn’t only about ‘doing’ digital, but also about ‘being’ digital in terms of their thinking and behaviour.
  • Cyber Incident Response from the Trenches: The IR checklist for the future Recorded: Jul 17 2019 46 mins
Dan Garlick, Hitachi Vantara and Terrence Lillard
Every week a new organization is in the news because they have been breached and their customers’ or their own data was stolen. More than ever, it is vital that CISOs and their organizations have robust Cyber Incident Response programs and capabilities. Security professionals are all well versed in the 6 steps to IR: detect, identify, contain, remediate, recovery, lessons learned. But having checklists and call rosters are not the only things to consider. Incidents basically come down to three phases. There is before a compromise/breach occurs, during the incident and the post incident. There are valuable takeaways for security leaders, their teams and the partners they may use for IR services to consider in each phase.

SD-WAN – Transforming the Network You Have to the Network You Need
    Part 2 of a 3-part webinar series on SD-WAN

A major shift is underway in the way companies access their applications. No longer are applications residing solely in company data centers, but are increasingly being migrated to the cloud or accessed as a SaaS offering. Hybrid IT is becoming the operational model of choice, requiring companies to re-evaluate the applicability of existing IT infrastructure. Architectures that made sense in the past, no longer make sense in the Digital Age.

One area where this is particularly true is the WAN. Most companies today are saddled with a ten to fifteen year old MPLS WAN architecture. Using this architecture to access cloud based applications is proving to be a costly and inefficient way to go. In addition, it has a negative impact on application performance and response times, leading to end user dissatisfaction. As a result, WAN transformation has become a high priority topic for most CIO’s. WAN transformation, however, is a complex undertaking and needs to be considered in the context of the larger digital transformation journey. Transforming the WAN will also require transformation in the areas of security, and visibility and performance management.

In order to help companies better understand all that is involved, Dimension Data is offering a three part webinar series that will provide insight into the full scope of this transformational initiative. This webinar deals with the security component of SD-WAN, focusing on the security challenges that emerge as a result of WAN transformation and how they can be addressed.
