The State of Observability 2021: Best Practices to Implement Today

The global ‘State of Observability 2021’ report recently published by Splunk and ESG Research reveals IT leaders’ early investments in observability improve performance, customer experiences — and the bottom line.

Observability is obviously a good thing - there’s a lot that can go wrong with increasingly complex hybrid IT systems, and being able to both understand and remediate problems is essential. But like exercise, there’s a big range between the occasional brisk walk and regularly running a marathon. So we set out to answer two questions: What does a strong, high-level observability practice look like? And does it actually deliver meaningful results?

This fireside chat will cover the key findings from this latest report, and explore the best ways to implement and use observability today. Join us to learn:
- The current level of observability maturity across Europe
- Key findings about observability benefits and negative outcomes
- How observability increases innovation, customer satisfaction and more
- The four steps to better observability according to observability leaders

Application & IT environments are rapidly evolving, modernizing, and becoming more complex – making it much more difficult to continue understanding their performance, availability, and plans for future growth. Organizations have to ensure their monitoring and observability platforms are powerful enough to accelerate their cloud transitions and development velocity.

Join industry experts from Splunk and ESG as they discuss what benefits global organizations that have adopted observability are experiencing in areas such as application performance, deployment velocity, and application development.

In this interactive session, we’ll present some results from this research and then start a discussion around:

    - What is observability and what outcomes you’ll see from adopting observability practices
    - The four characteristics of a mature observability practice
    - Common pain points in the adoption of observability

  • Best Practices for Multicloud Monitoring & Investigation Recorded: Oct 13 2021 40 mins
Nicolette Graham, IT Product Marketing; Nate Smalley, Technical Interlock Dir; Chris Crocco, Cloud Consult Engineer, Splunk
83% of organizations are looking for new monitoring approaches to handle today’s cloud complexity. IT teams are challenged with monitoring cloud services and mission-critical applications by separate tools which lead to swivel chair approaches, runaway costs, and fragmented operational data getting trapped in siloed tools. This creates blind spots that halt teams’ ability to quickly detect and resolve issues, and negatively impacts customer experiences.

What if there was a way to unify monitoring and investigation across the entire cloud stack? Wouldn’t the jobs of cloud architects and system administrators be so much easier if there were consolidated views enabling faster mean-time-to-detect (MTTD) and mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR)? Splunk is helping organizations across the globe accelerate their cloud journey with its analytics-driven, multicloud monitoring solution.

Watch our webinar, "Best Practices for Multicloud Monitoring & Investigation" where you’ll learn:

    - Top trends in the market to maximize IT performance with a multicloud monitoring strategy
    - What capabilities organizations need to look out for when choosing the right tools
    - How to best optimize hybrid and multicloud management
    - How Splunk helps organizations tackle cloud complexity challenges
  • SOC Maturity-Understanding and Determining the Right Level for Your Organization Recorded: Oct 12 2021 60 mins
Matthias Maier (EMEA Security Product Marketing Director at Splunk) and Marco Eggerling (Security Advisor at Splunk)
Agility and speed of digital attacks are the biggest hurdles a SOC team can face today. Mitigating cyber threats is often only partially possible as new devices, applications, services and service providers are added to the enterprise landscape daily - constantly creating brand new attack surfaces.

Increasing an organisation's IT security operations maturity level to expand cyber defence capabilities is inevitable in the age of digitalisation. Over 50% of companies with more than 2,500 employees have already taken this step, with 72% of them only doing so in the last 5 years. Many start with security monitoring, laying the foundations for increased IT risk visibility - but what comes after that, and how do you continue to ‘level up’?

Join us as we think outside of the box on how to rank and grow your cyber defense capabilities. The session will cover:

    - How to define maturity levels in cybersecurity operations
    - A comparison of different maturity models, diving into advantages and disadvantages
    - A ‘Practice Maturity Check’ on establishing readiness and the effective use of SIEM/Security Analytics
