Lidia Treiber, Director, Research, WisdomTree | Philip Brown, Managing Director of Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory, Citi

About this talk

The health pandemic has led to an unprecedented amount of fiscal stimulus and this time around the European Union has started to sell enormous levels of European Union bonds. It is a step in the right direction towards a more unified Europe in times of crisis. Investors can consider this as a way to construct more balanced portfolios, using European Union bonds that benefit from AAA credit ratings that are not linked to one European country. This is reminiscent of US Treasuries which are not linked to one state but provide funding for the US economy. In this webinar, Lidia Treiber, Director of Research at WisdomTree will be joined by Philip Brown, Managing Director of Banking, Capital Markets & Advisory at Citi, where they will aim to demystify European Union bonds and shed light on this evolving asset class, which is set to become the second largest AAA rated issuer in Europe. Together, they will provide: + Insight into a new major fixed income player that emerges amid the crisis + Views on why European Union bonds matter to Environmental, Social, and Corporate Governance (ESG) investors + Citi dealer insights into the demand for newly issued EU bonds This will be followed by a Q&A session where Lidia and Philip will be joined by Melvyn Merran, Head of Fixed Income Beta Trading, EMEA at Citi.
